Assessment of screen-detected abnormalities should be carried out by multidisciplinary teams. Guidance on the organisation of assessment and standards for assessment has been published in the various breast screening quality assurance guidelines. This publication sets out specific guidance for the clinical assessment of mammographic abnormalities and gives an example of an assessment protocol.
